ib vogt and AirTrunk Deliver Malaysia’s First Renewable VPPA for a Data Centre
Singapore, 30/06/2026
ib vogt, a global multi-technology renewable energy platform, and Asia Pacific & Middle East hyperscale data centre specialist, AirTrunk, have reached a major milestone under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), with the commencement of commercial operations for a 29.99 MWac solar project supporting AirTrunk’s operations in Malaysia.
The project is the first renewable energy Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) for a data centre under the programme and marks an important step in accelerating the country’s energy transition while supporting the rapid growth of cloud and AI infrastructure in the region.
Under the long-term agreement, the solar facility, developed by ib vogt is now generating and delivering clean energy into Malaysia’s grid. The milestone demonstrates how collaboration between digital infrastructure providers and renewable energy developers can help meet growing energy demand sustainably while advancing national decarbonisation goals.
David Ludwig, CEO of ib vogt APAC, said: “At ib vogt, our purpose is to change the world by making decarbonisation a reality for our partners. We are proud to have delivered this project safely and responsibly, adhering to our deeply held belief that culture, anchored in ownership and integrity, is the most powerful enabler of strategy. This achievement reinforces our commitment to leaving the planet in a better state than we found it while fostering inclusive economic development in the communities where we operate.”
Damien Spillane, Chief Customer & Innovation Officer of AirTrunk said: “This milestone demonstrates how digital infrastructure growth and the energy transition can advance together. As demand for cloud and AI infrastructure accelerates across the region, securing renewable energy supply is critical to supporting sustainable digital growth. This long-term collaboration contributes new renewable energy capacity to Malaysia’s grid while supporting AirTrunk’s commitment to match 100% of electricity consumption across our data centre platform with renewable energy by 2030.”
With operations now underway, this project supports Malaysia’s renewable energy ambitions under the CGPP, demonstrating how collaboration between digital infrastructure providers and renewable energy developers can help accelerate the transition to a lower-carbon economy while supporting long-term digital growth.
This project exemplifies ib vogt’s core strategy: customer-centric innovation. By co-creating tailored energy solutions, ib vogt is helping its partners turn bold decarbonisation ambitions into operational reality. As a multi-tech enabler, ib vogt integrates diverse technologies to ensure that hyperscale digital growth and the energy transition advance hand-in-hand, providing the resilience and scale required by top-tier global clients.
